Description
Monty - Grinny Grandad. You might like it, you might not, but we had to do it.
COMPETITION WINNER #4 - July 2007
Guest Judge Justin Rushmore explains his choice.
"This track was the clear winner. It had what I look for in a track - vibe, energy and originality. Monty by Grinny Grandad has something that you just can’t resist and on a second listen makes you feel that the track is already a classic. I love the female vocals, sassy youthful and quirky, the confident beats, great arrangement and nice touches with the gun shot percussion. I also think that a mix down with Snorkel studios will take this project to an exciting level so all in all great name and very worthy winners."

what is that sample ?
reminds me of something out of Monty Python's the Holy Grail.... the bit with brave brave sir robin.
this is a fu**king marvellous tune.
personally i reckon you shoulg go out with the sample at the end, why miis that opportunity of such a great hook. get clearance on it then record this as a single and get it out there.
respect and luck Grinny

i love how the sample sound, the synth sound and guitar and vocals compliment each other, and those drums sound so funky.
very impressive.... and very original too.... !

It's not a horn sample - just has access to a whole orchestra! He he Nice track. Love the drums. Great use of Reverb got lotsa space in the mix still. Vocals are always the hardest thing to chuck into the mix and you got it just right, maybe the male vox up a touch but apart from that go-ld. Would make a great breaks re-mix (massive hint!!) And pay no attention when all the jealous buggers try to dis you with bad comments and votes of 1 - farkem!! 1 Fat DJ C:)

Nice one Monty.

nice use of main theme from "Monty P and the Holy G", slowed right down. Maybe main man's vocal could be a bit further back in the mix, but still funkaroonie!

well everyone keeps going on about the vox .. I am pretty sure it is a sample of peter green "green manalushi with the two pronged crown" anyway a fab mix, the orchestra and the samples go together well.

Hey guys, cheers so much for all the great comments. For the record, the male vocal is from "Oh Well Part 1" By Fleetwood Mac, and the brass is from the theme from Monty Python's Holy Grail, although it has been recreated rather then sampled.
Cheers!!
